Joseph St Leger-Francis

Advanced Paramedic

Joe is an Advanced Paramedic, educationalist and health leader splitting his time between caring for patients, leading system change and passionately educating medical and allied health students. Having achieved a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science, Joe spent time working as a frontline Paramedic for the London Ambulance Service before transitioning into advanced practice roles in the wider healthcare system to include intermediate care teams, minor injury units, emergency departments, GP surgeries and now within integrated urgent care. Within these areas, Joe has focussed his postgraduate studies in primary care therapeutics developing specific interests in antibiotic resistance and mental health. Within his educational roles, Joe has worked across several universities teaching Paramedic Science, BMBS Medicine programmes and leading an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Joe has continuously championed learner engagement and satisfaction and has been awarded multiple fellowship grants to strategically implement radical learning pedagogies in creative and playful adult learning. He holds a PGCE and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Recently, Joe has drawn from his experience across these various roles to gain strategic lead positions as both a Chief Operating Officer and Chief Clinical Information Officer serving the local Cornwall and Isles of Scilly community.
