Around 30–40% of coughing children seek medical attention. Croup most commonly affects children between the age of 6 months and 3 years and is potentially life threatening in its most severe form. This article provides guidance on what to take into account when assessing any of the five subgroups of paediatrics, highlighting that children are not just small adults and require a different approach.
