Steve Poulton

Paramedic and Senior Lecturer

Steve Poulton made a career change in 2015 to become a Paramedic having spent a career working in Television and Film. He is a Paramedic with Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Senior Lecturer at York St John University teaching on their MSc pre-reg and BSc Paramedic programmes. Having graduated from Sheffield Hallam, Steve made a commitment to teaching and throughout his career this has been at the forefront of his practice, whether it be teaching patients about long-term conditions, student paramedics on placement or his colleagues in trust. Having worked through the pandemic Steve moved his full-time focus to university, allowing him to watch his children grow, continuing to work with the ambulance service and to educate. You can find Steve either in the lecture theatre, on an ambulance, hosting a webinar for the College of Paramedics or teaching at the side of a lake as a scuba diving instructor, with his greatest challenge attempting to teach his kids.
