Concussion is a disturbance of neurological function, where the structures within the brain are affected by a traumatic force. In 2023 the UK Government published guidelines for concussion in sport for the first time, reflecting improvements made by international sporting standards bodies to raise awareness, set best-practice, mitigate risks and protect against brain injury.
