The Third Annual Class Professional Publishing Writing Competition

Are you a Student with a Talent for Writing?

Have you always wanted to be a writer but have never known where to start? If so, why not take part in our 2023 Student Writing Competition. Inspired by the ParaPass app, the third writing competition is launching on 1st January 2023 and is open to paramedic science students. The winner will be awarded a copy of the 2022 A4 JRCALC Clinical Guidelines, a copy of Paramedic Case Studies and a £200 cash prize!

To enter this competition, please submit a written piece of no more than 1000 words, including a case study, detailing a situation you might come across as a paramedic, together with supporting evidence of how you might manage this. Case studies should ideally focus on a theme or topic relevant to paramedic practice and the supporting information should aim to put the scenario into context. The supporting information may be reflective or contain ‘what do you do now’ choices of action and the consequences of each.

The closing date for submissions is 31st August 2023. The winner will be contacted and announced on 1st November 2023.

For an example of an existing ParaPass case study please click on James Brogan’s scenario above.

We would ask that entries demonstrate the following:

  • The scenario should be relevant to paramedic practice
  • Sound clinical knowledge of the scenario described
  • Supporting information should be evidence-based and references included if appropriate
  • Case studies should be readable, articulate and engaging

The scenario may also be humorous or imaginative in places whilst still demonstrating a firm understanding of the paramedic role.

Further information on how to enter can be found HERE.
